“Become who you are” – JPII

"We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty" - Luke 17:10
There is not a lot to know about me, I think St Luke says it all. I am an unworthy servant of Jesus Christ, and I am currently only doing what is my duty. The irony here is that I once memorized a quote by General Patton while I was going to school at the Air Force Academy that stated “If you do your full duty, the rest will take care of itself”. I didn’t realize it would take 12 years to discover what my “full duty” was. Since then, the scales have fallen off and my eyes have been opened (acts 9:18) to my true duty, to proclaim Christ’s love to the nations. Saint Paul states “If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation has been imposed on me, and woe to me if I do not preach it!” (1Cor 9:16) Once I tasted missions I was hooked, I began to understand what St Paul meant when he said “For the love of Christ impels us” (2 Cor 5:14). I am currently living as a full time missionary at an amazing Catholic retreat center and summer camp for high school teens called Life Teen Covecrest. I live there in Community with two families, four single employees and eight missionaries. It was here that my life was transformed. I currently spend most of my time reaching out to the local community searching for opportunities to serve and share Christ’s love to the poorest of the poor, both spiritually and materially. I also love when God provides the opportunity to serve our poor neighbors in foreign countries. The more and more I am exposed to missions and Christ’s love, the more and more I begin to embrace St Paul’s words “it is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20)
